The L.A.-based quartet released their first self-titled album in 2002 were invited on a massive North American tour before the album even came out by Puddle Of Mudd, and developed a massive underground fanbase. 30STM has a handful of amazing music videos on MTV and VH1, and has toured across the world.

On August 31, 2006 the band won the MTV2 Award for "The Kill" at the MTV Video Music Awards, one of their two nominations. The second nomination was for best rock video; however, they lost to AFI's "Miss Murder." The music video is loosely based on the movie "The Shining". A Beautiful Lie was certified gold by the RIAA in August for distribution of over 500,000 albums.
